Bayron Binkley for Governor of Tennessee-Thoughts on National Health Care

President Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress is trying to pass a National Health Care Bill perhaps this weekend. A number of folks have asked me my thoughts on this topic. First let me say that I do not know what is in the bill. But I will say that if it impacts our State, our citizens in a way that it puts an additional financial burden on us as individuals or will pull dollars from our State budget..then I am against it...We already have too many financial issues to deal with both on the State level and the National level. We do not need another financial matter to deal with....folks our plate is already full. Enough is enough!

You know we have a Great Country! We pulled the resources together and we built an atomic bomb. We have found the use of nuclear power for both medical and our energy needs. We sent man to the moon and got him home. Why can't we devote those same type of resources-using our existing financial resources or the dollars we plan to spend in the hundreds of billions of dollars, our technology, intellect and find cures instead of finding treatments. That may sound too simplistic to some...to me it makes common sense. Don't know what the insurance industry would say...finding cures might break into their profits...and we don't want to do that.

I think there are better options we should pursue. We might even find a new renewable energy source along the way...The oil companies would love that along with those Arabic Countries and Venezuela who have those crude oil resources. Folks...there are options out there. If we put our mind and resources together we can tackle those problems and issues...in spite of the special interest Groups.

Bayron Binkley for Governor of Tennessee...Letter to the Editor

Despite all of our efforts to get the word out on my candidacy for Governor of the State of Tennessee...we have not been as successful as we would like to be. There are many gaps within the State that has not gotten the word. It more than appears that you have to have a "D" or and "R" beside your name before you can get anyone to do something on the campaign...I guess they have determined that you are either not qualified or worthy. (We have had some successes around the State most notably recently in Middle Tennessee with the Tennessean and its related papers and a good front page story in the Williamson Herald.)

Another step we have taken in the last couple of days was to send a Letter to the Editor or a piece to the opinion section of newspapers across the State and to the Television Stations as well. Our original letter was nearly 400 words long. Most papers want to get letters not to exceed 250...so a re-write was commissioned. We thought we would post the letter here on the Dedeacon's Tale for those who visit this blog. Please help us spread the word and be sure to visit the Campaign Website at http://binkley4governor.com/

To the Editor:

This November Tennesseans will select a new Governor. Historically, Tennessee elections have offered only two choices: Republican or Democrat-candidates drawn from political partisans financed and influenced by special interest groups. Rarely have Tennesseans been offered the choice of an unbiased, impartial, and independent candidate.

Exacerbating the situation are many of the state’s media outlets which almost exclusively cover well funded major party candidates- while waving the banner of independence, fairness, and impartiality. Because many in the state’s media continue to perpetuate the myth that only wealthy major party candidates merit their coverage, I am using this opportunity to announce my candidacy for Governor.

These are critical times for Tennessee. Viable solutions for the problems we face including jobs, property values, taxes and education shouldn’t be defined by the media or the special interest groups-they should be decided by hardworking taxpaying Tennesseans.

Tennesseans want fresh ideas driven by a business-minded leader with a clear plan for enhancing our Quality of Life; one who will attract new businesses while protecting those already invested in our state. Our next Governor must bring about real education reform through school choice and guaranteed higher education opportunities, and find ways to rebuild and increase property values lost during the national recession. Above all, our next Governor should be dedicated to streamlining government, being a better steward of our tax dollars, and retaining our core values and traditions, while forging a new path for the future.

Our current path has produced at times inferior results, stifled the rule of common sense and diminished our prospects for the future. It is time for a new voice-and a new choice. I am prepared to be that voice, and I present myself to the people of Tennessee as an independent candidate for Governor. If the vision I have briefly outlined resonates with you, please visit www.Binkley4Governor.com.
